Leo Lionni
Born in the Netherlands in 1910. After living in Italy, he defected to the US and became a successful illustrator and graphic designer. He returned to Italy and died in 1999. He won the Caldecott Medal, one of the most prestigious awards for children’s books in the United States, for three of his works. He also received many other awards in various countries.
